The Challenge
The Hispanic American Periodicals Index (HAPI) at UCLA relied on a system of Excel spreadsheets, printouts, legacy PERL scripts, and physical filing to manage their indexing operations. With no centralized digital workflow or validation, the system was inefficient, error-prone, and difficult to maintain. [iS2 Digital] was hired to reverse-engineer and replicate the system digitally, capturing business logic and streamlining internal workflows.
The Solution
[iS2 Digital] worked with HAPI to fully reconstruct their back-end data management system, converting decades of manual and script-based processes into a secure, web-based application. The team translated varied business rules, mapped internal workflows, and delivered a custom administrative interface that dramatically improved the speed and accuracy of data entry and management. A positive ROI was reached after the first year.
