BEND, Ore. — August 3, 2026 — Kevin Goldberg will present a free public talk on artificial intelligence, AI: An Honest Conversation What's Real, What's Hype, What Matters, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the Deschutes Public Library, Central Library, Meeting Room 3. Admission is free, but seating is limited to 45 and advance registration is required.
Led by iS2 Digital founder and AI educator Kevin Goldberg, the 90-minute talk is designed for a general audience, with no technical background required. It explains, in plain English, what AI actually is, why AI chatbots "guess" the most likely answer rather than looking it up, why they sometimes produce confident answers that are simply wrong, and how today's moment compares to past technology shifts like the calculator, YouTube, and even electricity.
"A lot of people I talk with don't know what AI actually is, including people who use it every day," said Kevin Goldberg, founder of iS2 Digital. "Once you understand what it is, and what it isn't, you can make better decisions for your work, your family, and everything else you care about. That is what this evening is about."
Attendees will leave with three things: a working mental model of how AI actually works, a read on what current labor-market data says about which jobs are most exposed, and a set of concrete next steps for using AI well, whatever their starting point. The talk includes two audience Q&A breaks, and registrants can submit a question in advance.
"We are less than four years into this," Goldberg added. "The tools are incredibly powerful, and they are also widely misunderstood. A clear, honest picture is the most useful thing I can hand people right now."
